Contact the forum team

The way to reach the forum team is by email at hello@geekwithlaptop.com. A person reads the messages that arrive there. We cannot promise a reply time, because the team is small, but we read everything and we deal with safety concerns and personal information first.

What to send

Tell us which thread or post you mean by pasting its full address from your browser's address bar. Then say what you would like to happen. The most common requests are these.

  • A correction. If an answer is wrong, out of date or relies on a weak source, tell us what is wrong and send the source that shows the right information. A link to a manufacturer support page or a service manual is the most useful thing you can include.
  • A removal request. If a post identifies you or includes information about you that you did not choose to share, send the address of the post. You do not have to explain why you want it removed.
  • A report about a post. If a post breaks the posting guidelines, for example advice that is unsafe, spam, or content that targets a person, send the address and a sentence on what the problem is.
  • A question about the forum. If you are not sure how something works, or you think something is broken on the site, tell us what you were doing and what you expected to happen.
  • A request about your data. To see, correct or delete the information the forum holds about you, use the subject line "Data request" and write from the email address you use on the forum, so we can match it.

Please do not send

Please do not use this address for individual laptop support. Questions about your own machine belong in the forum, where the answer can be checked and can help the next person with the same fault. If you email a repair question, we will probably point you to the right section.

Do not send passwords, recovery keys, product keys or photos that show your screen with personal data on it. We will never ask you for any of these. If a message claiming to come from the forum asks for them, it is not from us.

Safety concerns

If you are reporting a swollen battery, a burning smell or a charger that is hot or damaged, the first step is to unplug the device and stop using it. Do not wait for an email reply to do that. Then write to us if you want a post corrected or removed because it gives unsafe advice. Safety reports are read before anything else in the inbox.

If you believe something on the forum copies your work without permission, write to the same address with the subject line "Copyright notice". Include the address of the material, a description of the work, your contact details, and a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised. We review notices and remove material where that is appropriate. The member who posted it will be told and can respond.

Requests from regulators or law enforcement should go to the same address with a clear subject line, so that they reach the right person and are not mistaken for general mail.

Response expectations

We reply to most messages, but we do not set a deadline, and a quiet week does not mean your message was ignored. If you have not heard back after a while, send a short follow-up with the original subject line. When a correction or removal is made, we will tell you what we changed.
